General Questions

How do I find Hollies Western Stables?

Finding Hollies is simple. There is a map showing our exact location on the contact page. Open the top menu and click contact us. Our contact details will appear, to the right of our contact details there is a small blue map icon. Clicking this will open the map page. You can click the animated arrows for a closer look, or you can us the plus and minus arrows to zoom in and out. Should you need to print the map out, goto to the top of your explorer i.e. internet explorer, firefox, aol etc. And click file, print preview. We recommend that you use page setup and set the printer to landscape mode inorder to get the best results. IMPORTANT: Please note that we have found people having problems using satalight navigation. When turning off the A53 on to the road that then takes you directly to Hollies Western Stable the sat nav may tell you to turn right. However this is incorrect, you should continue straight on and you will find us approximatly half a mile down the road.

Do we have first aiders on site?

Yes. 3 members our staff are fully trained first aiders. We believe here at Hollies that your safety is paramount and we take all necessary steps to ensure your safety at all times.

How far are the local amenities?

We are situated in the country side approximatley half a mile from the A53. Shawbury village with a local co-op, chinese, chip shop, post office, indian take away, petrol station / mechanical services and last but not least the local pub. We have a hair dresser and beauty salon only half a mile on the junction to the A53. The historic town center of shrewsbury is within 4 miles of Hollies and has excellent shopping, dinning and night life all within its beutiful surroundings of the river severn.

Do I need my own safety gear?

Some of the activities here at Hollies require safety equipment i.e. riding hats, body protectors, riding boots, hi viv clothing. Some of these are provided, however if you have your own please feel free to bring them along. If you are unsure about any safety equipment you may require, please feel free to contact us and will discuss the matter further. safety wear must be worn at all times whilst riding horses.

Are Hollies BHS members?

Yes. our members are BHS members and support the British Horse Society fully with their on going work in the protection and welfare of horses. we are not yet an approved yard but hope to be in the near future.

Can I get a job at Hollies?

Unfortunatly at present we are not seeking any new members of staff. However, if you are interested in working here in the future please signup to the site using the toolbar found in the bottom left of the page, and signup as a member of the site and we will keep you informed via our news letter.

Can you tell me what I may expect to see in the news letter?

The news letter will contain details on upcoming and past events, new facilities, work shop courses, jobs, camping, ranch news and a section for kids. It's easy to sign up for too. Just use the toolbar in the bottom left of the site and sign up as a member, you will then receive our great news letter which is packed with exciting details as shown above.

How can I turn off the music on the site?

Simple. there is a speak symbol with lines zooming out of it in the bottom left of the screen. Click it once to turn off the music or click it again to turn it back on.

We take horses for whispering into our livery - training yard where they are in a relaxed and quiet environment. Putting your horse in our care for this service means that we can put our skills in to service 24hrs a day if required. Clients wishing to gain some western riding knowledge before having horses western trained will be able to experience first hand what they can expect from their own horses when fully trained as a finished horse. Hollies is a member of the caravan and camping club and is listed as a certified site. we are a small sight with five pitches for caravans and unlimited tent pitches. set in 4 acres of shropshire country side and situated only 2 miles from shrewsbury just off the A53. We have many local places of interest near by as well as all your high street shops in the nearest town of shrewsbury. local farm shops and village stores only one mile away. We welcome familys, groups or the sole traveler. Hollies is also on the cycle route and walking route from lands end to john o grotes. so if this apeals to you and your looking for a place to stay on your journey you are more than welcome. Answer: It is a fact that with the correct knowledge and approach, you can achieve a far deeper understanding of why your horse is behaving, or not in a host of different ways. Once you have reached the point where you understand the language of equs, the level of understanding between human and horses becomes clear to both. Horses 'Talk' to each other all the time, so can you if you are prepared to expand your vision, and perception. The horse ask's for so very little but gives so much in return. It is an enthralling experiance if you can realise that the horse can teach us so much about his world if we are prepared to listen, observe and talk to them. If You would like to learn more about the wonderfull world of horses and humans then you have come to the right place. Ray has worked with horses for many years with amazing results. After many people asking us how can they have a better and more understanding relationship with there horse we have decided to help by offering a course for you to learn more, here at our ranch and Natural Horsemanship Centre. Courses run for either one day to several days. This can be in a small group or one to one tuition. Please see our calendar on home page for dates or contact us for more information. The cost for your tuition in horse whispering is £80 per day. Discounts can be made for those clients wanting to attend courses over a few days or even a few weeks. You are welcome to bring your own horse to stay with us during your tuition. Livery fees are £10 per day. As we are teaching you and whispering your horse the fee will become £100 per day.
